A cultural day off

Our work was closed on Monday so instead of doing my usual weekend routine of watching TV and eating crap I decided to explore some of my favourite museums in London the V&A and Natural History Museum. It ended up being a great (and free) day as there is a fashion exhibition at the V&A at the moment which had some great dresses from all the earas including a Alexander McQueen dress, woop!
Here are my pics.

The Alexander McQueen dress

I wanted to smash though the glass and run off with these 2!

How beautiful are these silver tea pots

The V&A garden

I love this archway, its like being back in Rome (sorry I may be a little dull here but its my Archaeology degree talking!)

This is just so crazy they took a whole staircase out of a house in France!

It is worth going to the V&A for these, look how massive the collumns are compared to the people at the bottom!

The entrance hall to the Natural History Museum is so beautiful...aaahh there's a dinasour!!

I love going into the vault at the Natural History Museum to look at all the diamonds, but this is amazing. This gemstone has a mini world living in it.

Elephant Parade
- these model elephants are popping up all over London which brings to the forefront the importance of elephant conservation. These will soon all be up for auction in Southebys so get hunting now! (you can also buy mini versions in Selfridges)

London College of Fashion MA_STERS

The MA show at the London College of Fashion is the perfect place to spot all the potential next big things in British fashion. I am in absolute awe of the collection put together by Sarah Williams. Her bags are simply outstanding, this is what she has to say about her collection,
"Historically exceptional craftsmanship was the norm now it is the exception."

The collection is designed to challenge this statement by utilising regional historical craftsmanship and metamorphosising the traditional in order to produce a collection of original fashion artefacts.

Throughout the whole design and production process three method of change were applied to the materials used; metamorphosis, presence and anthropomorphism. This results in fashion artefacts which relate both to historical traditions but can be used in a modern day context.

Her collection is putting a real modern architectural edge on the classic handbags of the 30's and 40's. Check out her website here.

Another designer I will definitely be keeping my eye on is Jody Parchment, her take on shoes is in keeping with the sheer extravagance of the late Alexander McQueen while still having some pieces which will be consumer friendly.♥

RIP Alexander McQueen

The legendary British fashion designer Lee McQueen (Alexander McQueen) died today, let us remember his awe inspiring designs.

Paris Fashion Week Highlights

It seems that the designers pulled out all the stops at this years Paris Fashion week with exceptional shows from Chanel, featuring a barn yard theme - with Karl's girl pal Lily Allen popping out of the floor of the makeshift yard to perform (also noted that Prince was in the audience!!). Although get ready for the usual backlash from the devote Chanel followers who will accuse Karl Lagerfield of ruining Coco's memory. I think that Chanel needs to step into this realm and inspire future generations of fashionistas to inspire to wear Chanel one day, so good on you Karl for taking it to the next level!
Alexander McQueen know how to keep us talking with his towering 12 inch heeled boots which were covered in metal studs for his Charles Darwin inspired catwalk. Obviously these shoes are not for your average walk in the park but that is what catwalks are all about!
A pirate inspired theme was adopted by designer Jean Charles de Castelbajac where models wore dresses with parrots attached to them and necklaces of bones.
And my favourite Vivienne Westwood was her usual crazy self and showed off her models wearing dramatic and scary painted faces while wearing her new Spring Summer 2010 collection of tailored shorts, corseted low cut dresses and paint splash inspired prints.

Bag Lust

There are so many scrummy clutch bags out at the moment, and you don't have to rob a bank to afford them all! Although I never use clutch bags as I carry around too much crap I can still admire these from afar!
Firsty above i the sexy Alexander McQueen knuckle duster clutch which is sheer rock chic, and at £795 you need to be a rock star to afford it! (Net-A-Porter)
Secondly the cute leopard print clutch from ASOS is an absolute bargain for £25!
Thirdly is the very on trend box bag from Reiss which comes in at a medium affordability of £79.
And finally for you celebrities out there the Adam Harvey 'Anti Paparazzi' clutch may come in handy. This clutch detects the flash of a paps lens and responds with another stronger flash so any pictures will be ruined!Don't know the price on this one yet but if you need this you probably will be able to afford it!
